Big Horn Sheep Hunts

Bighorn Sheep Hunts at Ram Creek Outfitters

Ram Creek is home to some impressive bighorn rams, and with limited tag availability we maintain a solid success rate. This hunt is physically demanding and takes place in true sheep country—steep terrain, exposed ridges, deep basins, and miles of rocky ground. ATVs and four-wheel drives help reach the trailheads, but from there the hunt becomes a full backpack-style pursuit. Expect long days of climbing, glassing, and navigating rugged mountain terrain in search of mature rams. You’ll spend several nights on the mountain in tent or bivy camps, fully immersed in the backcountry.

The bighorn sheep season runs from September 10th to October 25th, and we generally recommend the earlier part of the season for the best weather, though alternate dates can be discussed.

Is this Hunt Right for You?

Bighorn sheep hunts demand commitment, conditioning, and a willingness to push deep into remote mountain terrain. Success comes from long glassing sessions, tough climbs, and staying mobile in steep, rocky country. If you want a true wilderness challenge—one that rewards grit, persistence, and teamwork—this is it. Our guides know these mountains, know the sheep, and know how to get you into the right country.
