Mountain Goat Hunts

Mountain Goat Hunts at Ram Creek Outfitters

Our mountain goat hunts are a true test of endurance, skill, and determination. Ram Creek’s goat territory is steep, rugged, and breathtakingly beautiful—classic high-country terrain filled with cliffs, shale slides, avalanche chutes, and alpine bowls. While four-wheel drives, ATVs, and horses get us to the trailheads, the majority of this hunt is done on foot. Expect long hours of glassing, challenging ascents, and the satisfaction of navigating untouched wilderness in pursuit of a mature billy.

The season runs from September 10th to November 30th, and for the best coat quality we recommend planning your hunt after October 1st. Depending on where goats are holding, you may spend a night or two on the mountain, returning to a cozy base camp with hot meals and warm showers.

Is this Hunt Right for You?

Mountain goat hunts require strong legs, steady footing, and mental toughness. Goats live in some of the most inaccessible terrain in the mountains, and reaching them often means climbing steep slopes, sidehilling across shale, and spending long days glassing high elevations. If you’re ready for a demanding hunt with huge rewards, spectacular scenery, and a true wilderness experience, a Ram Creek goat hunt is the perfect challenge. Our guides know the terrain, know the goats, and are committed to getting you into the right country safely and successfully.
